VA’s Polytrauma/TBI System of Care
Veterans who have sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) may require different levels of TBI treatment and other supportive care throughout their lives. The typical treatment course begins with evaluation and acute rehabilitation and progresses to post-acute care in the community for ongoing symptoms.
Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC)
DVBIC’s mission is to serve Service members and Veterans with TBIs through clinical care, research initiatives, educational programs, and more. DVBIC fulfills this mission in collaboration with the Department of Defense, the military services, the Department of Veterans Affairs, civilian health partners, local communities, Veterans’ families, and individuals with TBI.
